The Power of Stories: Mirrors, Windows, and Sliding Glass Doors
At the heart of our approach is the power of stories to transform and connect. Through carefully selected books and storytelling:
Mirrors (看见自己) - We help children see themselves reflected in stories, validating their experiences and strengthening their sense of identity.
Windows (认识他人) - We open views into different lives and perspectives, nurturing empathy and understanding of others whose experiences may differ from their own.
Sliding Glass Doors (进入新世界) - We invite children to step beyond the familiar into new worlds of imagination, possibility, and wonder.
Through reading together, we create intimate moments of connection where children discover themselves, understand others, and explore new realms of possibility—all within the safety of a caring relationship.
Meet Ms. Chunyan Chen
Chunyan Chen (Callie) is the founder and director of Golden Bird Family Childcare. With extensive training in early childhood education and years of experience, Chunyan has created a nurturing space where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn.
Chunyan is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin Chinese, allowing her to provide culturally responsive care and support diverse families in our community. She is an active member of the Family Child Care Association and the Chinese Provider Association.
